Creating Clear Aligners With Invisalign®

des moines invisalign

When you have misalignment, we could offer relief with cosmetic dentistry. In addition to masking minor cases of poor alignment with veneers, we also have clear and comfortable Invisalign® aligners! These provide a nearly invisible road to an even smile. In today’s blog, your Des Moines, IA, dentist talks about our clear Invisalign® aligners.

Cosmetic Braces

We refer to these as cosmetic orthodontics because they’re esthetically-pleasing. Instead of using metal brackets and wires, patients will wear a set of clear plastic aligners, made from BPA-free materials. These will fit comfortably and also be nearly invisible when in place. The treatment process is simple. You wear a set for about 20 to 22 hours a day, over the course of about two weeks. At this point, you then upgrade to the next set in the series. This process will continue until you obtain optimal results, which is about a year for adults and 18 months for teens. However, the exact time frame will depend on the severity of your misalignment, and whether you wear them as our team prescribes!

Custom Orthodontics

The key to successful treatment and a comfortable experience is the custom-made nature of these aligners. We use digital imaging technology to quickly and comfortably gather a series of images of your smile from multiple angles. We then combine them to create a 3D computer model of your smile, one far more precise than a physical impression. At a special lab, experts will use this information to design and craft your plastic braces. Once they’re ready, you can begin the treatment process, and we will monitor you with periodic visits to the office.

Removable Braces

In addition to being clear, Invisalign aligners are also completely removable! That means you don’t have to worry about food becoming caught in your braces. Instead of avoiding these items, you simply take out your aligners before each meal, and replace them afterward. This removable nature also makes brushing and flossing your teeth each day much easier as well. You can carefully clean your teeth to lower the risk of stains, cavities, or gingivitis, and clean the orthodontics with soaking and brushing. If you want to find out if these are right for you, then schedule a consultation so we can examine your smile and assess the severity of your misalignment.
