We know that many families have put off their routine checkup and cleaning visits out of concern. We understand, and want everyone to take every precaution to protect themselves from COVID-19. However, as dentists we also know that lack of routine cleanings and exams means minor issues could grow severe and threaten the health and stability of your smile. Fortunately, your Des Moines, IA, dentist has implemented new health and safety measures!
Before You Stop By
We’re going to be following the strictest recommendations and guidelines given by the American Dental Association (ADA), Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the Iowa Dental Board. When you call to schedule a visit, we will have a limited amount of appointment times available each day, as this helps ensure social distancing by keeping the waiting room empty. We will ask a series of screening questions about not just your oral health, but about any potential COVID-19 symptoms you’ve experienced. To limit paperwork, we recommend letting us know about changes to your address, phone numbers, emails, or dental insurance before your visit via text or email.
During Your Visit
When you arrive, remain in your car until we text or call to invite you inside. We will ask the same screening questions again, and require you to wear a mask. We’re only admitting patients, not guests or accompanying family members, at this time. When you enter, we will take your temperature and offer hand sanitizer. Our waiting room will also be free of magazines and toys, as they are difficult to properly disinfect. Our team members will be wearing PPE, including masks, face shields, gloves, and gowns. You will be required to wash your hands prior to treatment, and we will offer a special hydrogen peroxide rinse. We will also be cleaning and sterilizing tools and commonly touched surfaces throughout the day in between patient visits.
Remember to See Us For Checkups and More
A visit is a chance for our team to examine your smile with advanced technology, diagnosing possible areas of concern in the earliest possible stages. W then treat them before you experience painful complications, such as toothache or even tooth loss. A cleaning helps remove harmful buildup from your teeth, providing brighter teeth and fresher breath in the process, while also lowering the risks of tooth decay and gum disease. If you have any questions about our new health and safety precautions, or if you would like to schedule a visit, let us know!
